MESCHAC GABA
Artist Meschac Gaba is creatively from Benin, though staid in Rotterdam after his studies during Amsterdam’s Rijksaka. His initial South African muster took place in 2007 during Micha in Cape Town. Tresses< featured a array of sculptures woven from synthetic hair in a figure of iconic South African buildings. Locals will certainly recognize (below, from left to right) a Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria, Johannesburg’s Sentech Tower, as well as Cape Town’s much-reviled Disa Park.
